The Shipbuilding Industry in Indonesia is currently in the development stage. This industry has a great potential to drive the maritime economy. Therefore, this industry is reinforced by the Indonesian Government as well as the private sectors for supporting modernization, increasing production capacity, improving human resource capabilities, and improving the quality.
In addition, the Indonesian Government also helps to create policies that support this industry, so that local shipbuilding can be promoted and attract investment. Currently, the shipping industry in Indonesia is experiencing increasing competition which is both a challenge and an opportunity for shipbuilding companies in Indonesia. The shipbuilding market is very competitive, and the main players that are involved, come from all over the world.
According to various sources, the Shipbuilding Industry in Indonesia shows an increase in orders and production capacity, but there are several challenges that must be faced, including high production costs and dependence on imports of related components (https://industri.kontan.co.id/news/industri-kapal-lokal-bisa-bangun-1200-unit-per-tahun-tapi-baru-terpakai-30).
